Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday held a
meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Kenya Ahmet Cemil Miroglu at his
Karen office.
Ruto revealed that they discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting.
He highlighted trade ties, technological improvements, and agriculture as some of the aspects they addressed. He added that both Kenya and Turkey should continue to share cordial ties.
“Kenya and Turkey are deepening bilateral relations and bolstering trade ties on the back of increased and targeted focus in the areas of agriculture, dairy farming, technology, and infrastructure,” he said.
Ruto also said that food security, manufacturing and value addition are among the key targets of the government as it seeks to achieve the Big Four agenda.
Ruto’s remarks come at a time when President Uhuru
Kenyatta has reiterated his stand on relations with other nations. Last
week, Uhuru travelled to Tanzania to meet President John Pombe
Magufuli.
During the tour, he promised to work together with Magufuli to ensure economic development is achieved.
He also declared his position on the alleged
deportation of foreigners following Starehe MP's Charles Njagua alias Jaguar’s xenophobic remarks.
