Police Confirm: Tanzanian Opposition Leader Was Very Drunk

By Special Correspomdent, EA The Police in Tanzania have confirmed that the injured opposition leader, Freeman Mbowe was drunk and no evidence yet to prove his claims that he was attacked. Mr. Mbowe was reportedly attacked by an unknown assailant close to or at his home in Dodoma. "Invetigations are going on but what we now know is that he came from the house of his girl friend, MP Joyce Mukya, and passed through several places to drink before he returned home," said the police report adding: "All key witnesses confirmed tha Mr. Mbowe was very drunk to an extent of failing to express himself." Police in Tanzania said investigations are going on to establish if he was really attacked or he fall down trying to climb stairs at his residence in Dodoma. Kenya To Discharge Asymptomatic Covid-19 Patients To De-Congest Hospitals Kenya plans to discharge nearly all asymptomatic Covid-19 patients to free-up space in congested hospitals. The government has released guidelines for home-based care for discharged patients, which include at least 10 days of isolation. “Due to our rising number of Covid-19 cases, it is increasingly becoming difficult and untenable to isolate all patients in our hospitals for management and care,” health ministry official Rashid Aman told a media briefing on Wednesday. Patients with no underlying health conditions and have suitable space at home are also eligible for discharge. “For those in informal settlements we would need to put them in institutions in the community that meet the requirements,” Dr Aman added. Community healthcare workers will be involved in the daily assessment of the patients at home. The east African nation has confirmed 3,094 coronavirus cases so far.

Machira Mabior, Nairobi Hours after the leader of the opposition in the Tanzanian National Assembly, Freeman Mbowe, was injured at his home in Dodoma, the Speaker of the Assembly, revealed the secret behind the incident. Mr. Mbowe who was rushed to a private hospital in Dodoma, is now in Dar es Salaam for further treatment following what is described as a foot ankle injury. His party quickly met with the press to offer detailed but skewed account of what happened. "A group of unknown assailants attacked the Chairman and they were telling him some words that indicates he was attacked because of his political activities," said the opposition party, Chadema, National Secretary,  John Myika.
