The Police in Tanzania have confirmed that the injured opposition leader, Freeman Mbowe was drunk and no evidence yet to prove his claims that he was attacked. Mr. Mbowe was reportedly attacked by an unknown assailant close to or at his home in Dodoma.
"Invetigations are going on but what we now know is that he came from the house of his girl friend, MP Joyce Mukya, and passed through several places to drink before he returned home," said the police report adding:
"All key witnesses confirmed tha Mr. Mbowe was very drunk to an extent of failing to express himself."
Police in Tanzania said investigations are going on to establish if he was really attacked or he fall down trying to climb stairs at his residence in Dodoma.
According to a press release issued by the Police Spokesperson today in Sar es Salaam, the Opposition Leader's statements were also contradictory as he told the police that after the event he chose to go to the house of his fellow MP, Joyce Mukya, with whom he has an extra marital child, instead of reporting the event to any police station
