Magufuli Again: 60 Days Ultimatum "Pay Dividend or You are Dismissed

By Special Correspondent, Africa54

Speaking for the first time in his new Dodoma State House, Tanzanian President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli is back on his usual no-nonsense tone.

In the televised meeting with government and private sector officials in a dividend receiving and award ceremony, President Magufuli has issued a 60 Days ultimatum to all public utilities as well as private entities where the government has a minority share, to disburse dividents to the government.

President Magufuli of Tanzania

"After the 60 days those Chairpersons of the Boards and Executive officers appointed by the government in those respective organs shall consider themselves dismissed and we shall appoint other able Tanzanaians to fill the vacancies," said the vividly angered Magufuli.

According to the national broadcaster live telecast, in over 200 eligible entities, only 77 contributed to the government in the form of dividend by way of corporate social responsibility.

In four years, the government non tax revenues from the dividend rose significantly from a mere Shillings 166 billion to a staggering Shillings 1.05 trillion.

That is huge transformation but the self-reliance minded President Magufuli wants much more.

Magufuli who has also already shifted to the country's political capital of Dodoma, reminded other government entities that the government was already in Dodoma and urged others to follow.

Tanzania's Most Peaceful Election: Why Opposition Got Flabbergasted?

By John Njoroge:  The ruling party and President John Pombe Magufuli are both leading by far (update: final results are now out, see an update note at the end of the article), trailing the weak opposition in Tanzania following the 28th October General elections.              President John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania As usual, as the results were pouring out, the oppostion parties, activists and western propaganda machination, all over, resorted to one simple phallacy; whether the election was free and fair. Actually I heard the opposition rejecting the results on the basis of some irregularities.  Let me address that first before I share what I believe to be the reasons for weaker oppostion this time around in Tanzania.  The term free and fair has no one meaning in electoral governance across the world; countries abhor diverse socio-political systems and so is how they manage their elections. The fact that all political parties too...
