President John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania has affirmed the commitment of his government to deliver in time the proposed construction of crude oil pipeline from Hoima-Uganda to Tanga-Tanzania, confirms a Dar es Salaam State House press release.
President Magufuli reiterated his position during official talks held in Kampala after his counterpart Museven was sworn in a colourful event attended by top notch African Heads of State and Government as well as high level representatives from the rest of the world.
In the meeting, probably addressing the past glacier movement the pipeline experienced from prolonged talks through the abandoned Kenyan route, President Magufuli was emphatic that if a new pipeline construction adopts a "design and construct" approach, the project period would be cut down to one year.
"President Magufuli seized the opportunity to congratulate President Museveni and appreciated the Kampala decision to grant Tanzania an 8 percent stake in the pipeline project," says the Dar State House release.
On his part, President Museveni could not stop from admiring Dr. Magufuli's leadership style, specifically his "delivery per se" mindset. "I'm so far impressed by the progress made in the pipeline project," he is quoted in the release adding:
"We are very impressed Mr. President with your leadership style, focus on delivery and I specifically envy your determination and crusade against corruption. Corruption was the main trade barrier at the Dar Port and affected smooth border trade."
