Tanzanian MP Lissu Lies On VOA Live Interview

By Staff Reporter, Washignton DC

Tanzanian Opposition Tundu Lissu (MP) sweat from the armpits to the groin yesterday after being squeezed by the Voice of America Veteran Journalist Shaka Ssali and Tanzania Ambassador in the United States Willison Masilingi for telling lies about the government of Tanzania.

Speaking during the VOA Straight Talk Africa yesterday, the MP who has continued to be in limbo for being sponsored to tarnish the name of President John Magufuli and his government seemed to be incompetent and lacking facts about what is taking place in Tanzania.

Freedom Justice
The MP started the interview by telling the world that there is no freedom justice in Tanzania. In reaction, Ambassador Masilingi educated him not to mix between justice freedom and violation of freedom which is forbidden by international laws.

Citing an example, Ambassador Masilingi said, he studied laws and American legal history in the United States of America. He said, US laws prohibit people, who give opinions that risk the national security, tarnish peoples ‘names and propagate hatred in the society.  This is international not only in Africa or Tanzania but also in the world at large,” he clarified more.

CHADEMA’s Chairman Freeman Mbowe
The MP concocted the facts that Hon. Mbowe is imprisoned because of being critical to the government. Reacting on these false allegations, Ambassador Masilingi educated the MP to differentiate between being imprisoned and being a remandee. He told the MP that Hon. Mbowe is in remand after violating (not the government” but the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court Bail conditions.

Critics to the Government
Reacting to Shaka’s question that the public in Tanzania including the MPs are prohibited to criticise the government, Ambassador Masilingi told the VOA that the current government allows critical ideas adding that currently the Bunge session is proceeding in Dodoma and the MPs are criticising the government bitterly.

“If Tundu Lissu could not have been injured by the criminals, he could now be in the Bunge criticising the government”, the ambassador said.

The ambassador insisted that Tanzania is a democratic state and will continue to adhere the rule of role and democratic principles. ThePew Research revealed recently that Tanzania is democratic country in Africa ahead of Kenya and Ghana. The research also placed Tanzania in the same level with Sweden and India in terms of democracy.

Trust in the national government is highest in TanzaniaAbout nine-in-ten people in Tanzania (89%) trust their government to do what is right for their country, including 48% who say they have “a lot” of trust,” states the research.

Empty Head
The MP Continued to lament on same false allegations he previously gave to the BBC and in German that President Magufuli did not show concern over his shooting the incidence. The Ambassor answered him that the President Magufuli issued a statement condemning the uncivilized crime and ordered thorough investigation on the same day.

He complained that the Bunge has paid for his treatments. He was answered that he and his party leaders chose not to abide to the procedures that include as simple as a requirement to first obtain referral certificate from the country’s Apex Hospital.

“It should be noted that innumerable circumstances, notwithstanding, common citizens including MPs from Hon. Lissu’s own party have adhered to the same procedures for years and got the much needed assistance”, said the Ambassado.

The MP also pointed fingers on investigations and government handling of his matter. But the ambassador answered him that apart from the forensic investigation, key witnesses are crucially important for effective investigations, leading to successful prosecution.

The ambassador added that investigators in Tanzania are still keen and waiting for the MP and his driver, the only two impeccable eye-witnesses, to change their startling reluctance and cooperate.

Shaka Ignores Lissu
MP Lissu

Seeing that the MP was telling lies, distorting and tarnishing the name of Tanzania and its government, Mr. Shaka told the MP that Tanzania is among the few countries in the world which has a good system of separating the power of the three pillars namely: Government, Parliament and the Court.

Mr. Shaka reminded the MP that the government of Tanzania is among the few countries in the world that is not seeking favour through the court. He called on Lissu to speak facts and not tarnishing the name of Tanzania pure lies.

Mr. Shaka decided to abandon the MP after seeing that the MP is like a failed state that is forced by his financiers to tarnish the name of the government of Tanzania. Mr. Shaka switched on interviewing Bobby Wine and Mr.Lissu looked like the lost sheep.

The financiers of the MP are in great shock after seeing that all the interviews and talks conducted by the MP have failed to change the reality in Tanzania and the world at large.
